Being able to reload quickly, aim with precision, and dodge as though your life depends on it are the three staples to staying alive in the most recent virtual reality multiplayer shooter, Dead and Buried, developed by Oculus. Playable on the oculus rift, this fast-paced game has you playing as one of four gunslingers battling an ever-growing horde of the undead for control of a series of stunning ghost-towns.

So, before we even get into this review, we can draw one conclusion. This game is fantastic.
The game is rated as being intended for players that are above thirteen years of age and is a game intended to be played standing. The supported tracking mode for Dead and Buried is front-facing. This is for the best, really, because there is no way that you're going to want to be sitting down for this game. From the fast-paced and sometimes frantic action to the fluid combat mechanics, you will have definitely broken a sweat by the end of each and every play-through. In addition, the virtual reality experience of this game is amazing (also you can get amazin exprerience playing non-vr games on Oculus Rift or HTC VIVE) and, despite the somewhat cartoon-style graphics, you will almost immediately become immersed within the world.

Currently, there are five game-modes available in Dead and Buried, one of which is really just a training simulator to get you accustomed to the mechanics of the game. The Shooting Gallery, as it's called, is the place for you to get your feet wet and improve your aim. The Quickdraw game-mode, in contrast to the remaining three modes, is a rather limited mode in that it operates on the principles of a standard old western duel, in that the fastest to pull the trigger is generally the winner.

The remaining three modes, however, directly showcase the strategic thinking and physical game-play that Oculus, and indeed, all virtual reality gaming companies have been trying to perfect for so long. In Horde mode, you're going to find yourself trying to last as long as you possibly can against a veritable onslaught of zombie gunners, with the only chance of victory being to win a battle against a powerful, supernatural boss. Robbery is an innovative spin on the childhood cops-and-robbers game, whilst Shootout is a team-based brawl that could have been pulled right out of a classic western movie.

Whilst some of the game's mechanics rely too heavily on luck, in that your spawn point could well be crucial to your victory or loss, Dead and Buried promises an action-packed, fun-filled experience along with countless hours of playing time.
